New SAFETEA-LU (Federal) Funding is available through JARC & New Freedom (State) Grant Programs.  New Federal funding under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) is available through the State of California under two grant programs: Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) funds [to serve low income persons for access to jobs/training] and New Freedom (NF) funds [to remove mobility barriers for disabled persons past the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) mandate.  Eligible recipients include public transit agencies, private and non-profit organizations serving low income and/or disabled persons in the social services sector.  FY 05/06 funding totals: $81K (JARC) & $49K (NF).

Three copies (plus original) of the application are due to SLOCOG by Tuesday, August 15, 2006, 5 PM .  A regional review committee will score all applications and forward them with regional scores to Caltrans Division of Mass Transportation in Sacramento by September 7, 2006 .  Awards are expected a few weeks later.
