// Transit Grants New SAFETEA-LU (Federal) Funding is available through JARC & New Freedom (State) Grant Programs.  New Federal funding under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) is available through the State of California under two grant programs: Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) funds [to serve low income persons for access to jobs/training] and New Freedom (NF) funds [to remove mobility barriers for disabled persons past the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) mandate.  Eligible recipients include public transit agencies, private and non-profit organizations serving low income and/or disabled persons in the social services sector.  FY 05/06 funding totals: $81K (JARC) & $49K (NF).  The application is available to download from the Division of Mass Transportation's website at this link:  (Click here)  Additional Job Access and Reverse Commute and New Freedom Grant information can be found at the following link.  Three copies (plus original) of the application are due to SLOCOG by Tuesday, August 15, 2006, 5 PM .  A regional review committee will score all applications and forward them with regional scores to Caltrans Division of Mass Transportation in Sacramento by September 7, 2006 .  Awards are expected a few weeks later.  An orientation workshop will be held at SLOCOG on Monday, August 7th, 10 AM.  For more information, please contact Eliane Guillot at 805-781-7511 or email at eguillot@slocog.org.
