Unmet Transit Needs – Annually, SLOCOG holds its Unmet Transit Needs hearing to receive comments regarding countywide transit services. SLOCOG staff then evaluates the transit unmet needs requests to determine which meet the ‘unmet transit needs’ criteria. The next step involves evaluating the requests to determine if they are ‘reasonable to meet’. Funding for unmet transit needs comes from Transportation Development Act funds. Short Range Transit Planning (SRTP) – These transit Plans, developed by transit agencies in coordination with SLOCOG, describe the transit conditions and needs for the local system being assesed. SRTPs are a five-year plan and can be integrated into the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). RTP goals and policies shape transit systems, more about Short Range Transit Plans. Transit Development Act (TDA) administration information is here.

Other Transit Studies and Plans – SLOCOG is currently leading a mulit-agency effort to determine the needs of a new San Luis Obispo transit center. The San Luis Obispo area is a major hub for both local and regional bus transit services. Find out more about this project at the project website, www.slocogtransit.com. |
