Unmet Needs

Annually, SLOCOG holds its Unmet Transit Needs hearing to receive comments regarding countywide transit services.  SLOCOG staff then evaluates the transit unmet needs requests to determine which meet the ‘unmet transit needs’ criteria.  The next step involves evaluating the requests to determine if they are ‘reasonable to meet’.  Funding for unmet transit needs comes from Transportation Development Act funds.  The next Unment Transit Needs Hearing will be in February 2009. Check back here in November 2008 for more information.

The 2008/2009 Unmet Needs Report can be viewed here. Short Range Transit Planning (SRTP) – These transit Plans, developed by transit agencies in coordination with SLOCOG, describe the transit conditions and needs for the local system being assesed.  SRTPs are a five-year plan and can be integrated into the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP).  RTP goals and policies shape transit systems.
