Executive Committee
An Executive Committee meets on an ado hoc basis to review the draft SLOCOG Agenda, identify items to refer to advisory committees, and provide policy input on agenda items, major sensitive issues, and the agency work program. The committee consists of the SLOCOG president, vice-president, and immediate past president.

Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC)
The Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC) serves as representatives of the general public. Membership includes sixteen regular members, representing various public interests concerned with transportation, with members appointed by the city council (7 members), District Supervisors (5 members), and an at large appointees (4 members). The functions of CTAC include developing and forwarding recommendations on transportation policies and implementation, and reviewing and studying existing transportation related affairs.

Technical Transportation Advisory Committee (TTAC)
The Technical Transportation Advisory Committee (TTAC) serves as the technical engineering and planning review committee to the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG). Nineteen regular member represent the planning and engineering areas of each public agency involved in the transportation planning process including; two members from each incorporated city (14), two members from the county (2), one member from the Air Pollution Control District (1), and two members from Caltrans (2).

The functions of TTAC are as follows:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the Regional Transportation Plan and be advisory to SLOCOG on all technical matters relating to regional transportation planning.
- Provide assistance, advice and recommendations to SLOCOG in its review of state and federally funded transportation projects.
- Coordinate and develop multimodal transportation planning within the area.
- Provide assistance and recommendations to SLOCOG in its allocation of funds from the Transportation Development Act of 1971, as amended.
- Provide assistance, advice and recommendations to the SLOCOG on technical matters relating to the Council's responsibilities contained in federal and state legislation relating to transportation, the transportation planning process, and transportation funding.
- Act as the technical subcommittee for development and implementation of the Congestion Management Program.
- Serve as the Surface Transportation Program (STP) committee to recommend projects to be funded with surface transportation funds for SLOCOG approval.
Social Services Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC)
The Social Services Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC) serves to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of public transit and paratransit services for the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments. The SSTAC reviews agenda items related to transit issues and provides comments and recommendations on any other such items as may be requested by SLOCOG. The specific functions of the SSTAC are: to annually participate in the identification of unmet transit needs, to annually review and make recommendations regarding unmet needs, and to advise SLOCOG on any other major transit issues, including the coordination and consolidation of specialized transportation services.
Membership
Twelve (12) regular members, representing various social service transportation interests, make up the SSTAC, including:
One representative who is over 60 years of age, appointed by SLOCOG
One representative who is disable, also appointed by SLOCOG
Two (2) representatives of local social service providers for seniors
Two (2) representatives of local social service providers for disabled
One representative of a local social service provider for persons of limited means
Two (2) representatives from the consolidated transportation services agency (CTSA)
Two (2) representatives from local transit operators
One representative from a local social service provider for youth

Other Standing Committees
Several other standing committees meet on an ad hoc basis to discuss issues of particular concern to their area of interest or as referred by the full SLOCOG board. These committees include: an administrative committee (consisting of all city managers and the county’s administrative officer); a Legal Committee (consisting of SLOCOG’s legal counsel and the attorneys of members agencies); and a Planning Committee (consisting of the planning directors of each member agency)
Statutory Requirements
All SLOCOG advisory committees are open to the public. The Brown Act requires at least 72 hours public notice citing the time, date, and location before regular meetings. SLOCOG policy for posting public notices for advisory committee meetings shall be seven days in advance of the meeting. SLOCOG shall circulate a short agenda for posting without support documents at the City County Library, South County Library, Atascadero Library, the County Government Center, and members of the public (upon request).
